RuPaul Andre Charles and his preferred fashion sense.

RuPaul is an inspiration to many men who want to push away society's standards and dress in a way that makes them feel beautiful. RuPaul is a successful American actor, drag queen, model, author, and recording artist.

In society today, most men are ostracized if they choose to wear a dress or stilettos. RuPaul and many other drag queens are working to have a safe haven for those who choose to follow the lifestyle. From RuPaul's and other queen's work, it is slowly becoming more common to see a man dressed as a "female impersonator" or drag queen. While this is not exactly allowing freedom to all men to wear a gown if they want to, it is the first step.
One of Ru's quotes from his show, RuPaul's drag race, is my inspiration everyday. At the end of every episode he says, "if you don't love yourself, how in the hell are you going to love anyone else?" This quote relates to the drag queens who he is speaking to, and it relates to anyone who feels that they are unacceptable or lacking in self confidence as a result of the way society has treated them. RuPaul is using his fashion to give others a chance to speak up where they normally think they can't.

RuPaul is part of a much larger motion to lessen the societal limitations in place on men's wardrobes. This movement will eventually move society to accept men who choose to wear what we would find odd today. There is inspiration in RuPaul's ambition and confidence. This inspiration has the ability to change society.
